The Power of a Personal Referral

I love hosting friends of the ministry for a tour of the Center, and I love the good, honest questions you all have that get to the heart of what we do. 

One of my favorites? 

“Why would a woman planning to abort come to a place that does not provide abortions?”  

That question tells me someone already understands the profound tension and the powerful opportunity at the center of our work, often before we even get through the lobby. 

The truth is, many women walk through our doors unsure, afraid, and desperate for someone to listen with compassion. They’re not always looking for an abortion—they're looking for hope. 

From a spiritual perspective, God hears and answers our prayers to draw women here by the work of the Holy Spirit. God also works through the practical. That's why we allocate 10% of our budget to marketing. Every Google analytic and client-reported referral source is tracked closely.

One of the most exciting ways clients find us is through a friend's referral. First, that means we are carrying out our mission to SERVE. A personal referral tells us that we served a previous client well. Second, it can cost up to $75 to acquire a client, and a referral is free. Finally, a referral from a previous client brings us one step closer to our number one Strategic Goal: becoming THE trusted resource in Charlotte for any woman experiencing an unplanned pregnancy.  

So far this year, almost 200 women have found us because someone else told them we were a safe place. Clients like Amelia, a 16-year-old who just learned she was pregnant. During her visit she was very soft-spoken, but openly shared her fears about becoming a mother in high school. A family member referred her here and while we don’t know the outcome yet, we would encourage you to keep praying for her.  

We are humbled and grateful for all the ways you serve alongside us—through your prayers, the hours you volunteer, and the gifts you give. And here I am, asking you for one more thing.

Abortion is a polarizing topic—but caring well for women in unplanned pregnancy should not be. We need champions like you—people who will speak up, spread the word, and share the vision. Every time you tell a friend, a church group, or a neighbor about the care available at Queen City PRC, you invite someone into a life-saving story. 

Some will pray. 

Some will give. 

Some will refer a client like Amelia. 

And some may need our care themselves.
