The Gift of Time

“There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every matter under heaven—A time to give birth and a time to die…A time to weep and a time to laugh.” —Ecclesiastes 3:1-2,4, NASB

If you read my email last month, you may remember that I shared specifics of how Queen City Pregnancy Resource Center’s ministry has had to pivot, in part because of the widespread availability of abortion by pill as well as shifting ultrasound regulations.

This month, I want to share with you how our ministry model stays the same.  One of the most important ways we serve the abortion-determined women who come to us is by helping them understand they can slow down the pace of their decision making.  I don’t know if you have a track record of making good decisions under pressure, but most of us do not.

I checked with my friend Google AI (who BTW is neither pro-life nor pro-pregnancy center) and it told me this:

Research indicates that stress significantly impacts decision-making processes, often leading to impulsive, risky, or suboptimal choices. Stress can impair the brain's ability to process information efficiently, leading to poor judgment and a decreased ability to adapt to changing situations.

Your prayers and generosity give the precious gift of time to women in their moment of stress. You help provide an atmosphere of peace, a place for her to share her story and be heard. It’s in this setting that we help her see the value of having an ultrasound, enabling us to check the viability of the pregnancy.

This gift of time also helps her discover our willingness to walk beside her and support her.

Often these women are already in crisis mode before the pregnancy. Just last week we served a woman with so much anxiety we could hear her praying outside the bathroom door. She was paralyzed by the thought of an unplanned pregnancy, so our nurse sat with her for well over an hour to help her calm down and think through potential next steps.

The same week we served a very young client who was in denial about her pregnancy.  In both cases, we did our best to give them the gift of time.

Sometimes the gift of time means a few hours in the safety of QC PRC - sometimes it means helping them understand that they don’t need to make a decision about their pregnancy today.

With each woman who is in a panic over her situation, we’re sensitive to where she is emotionally. Thanks to the support of ministry partners like you, we can convey the message of “take your time” in as many ways as possible. In addition to ultrasound pictures, we have designed a small calendar card to underscore with a visual that she can take her time.

We are not able to go home with her, so the moments we have with her—and your prayers that do follow her home—are key to rescuing children from abortion and leaving women better than we found them.

Together, over the past three and a half years we have had the opportunity to serve over 3,700 women and be a part of saving over 760 children! Please join us in praying for the 75+ women from whom we’re still waiting to hear a final decision. These women are wired to nurture their children. Their unborn sons and daughters have been created in God’s own image and deserve their time to be born.

Thank you for standing with us—for using your time and resources to give her the same. This is holy work, and it’s an honor to do it together.

Warmly,

Mary
