Celebrating Changed Hearts and Minds

Good afternoon,
I hope if you are a dad you were well celebrated yesterday! And I trust that we all took some time to reflect on and thank those men who have shaped who we are today.
We know that God’s plan for the family includes a mother and a father, when possible. Because of that, dads factor prominently in Queen City Pregnancy Resource Center’s (QC PRC) mission to serve the family, save the child and share the Gospel.
As part of our serving the family, we treat the fathers of the baby with respect, intentionally including them in conversations about pregnancy decisions and the ultrasound process. Some dads need more time than the mom to process an unplanned pregnancy. And some dads need the visual of an ultrasound to make the baby a reality to them.
As part of our multi-faceted approach to saving the child, we’re preparing to hire a Male Client Advocate. This man will share his perspective and speak into the life of the father of the baby in much the same way nurses give life-affirming counsel to the women we serve.
As part of our ministry to share the Gospel, we work to build relationships with the men and women whom we serve. One of the primary ways we do that is through our HOPE classes and their counterpart, Father’s Place. We’ve been thrilled to see almost 50% of the moms' partners coming to Father’s Place in recent months; historically that had been more like 20%. Father’s Place and Hope classes give us several months with these men and women, to teach parenting skills, share devotions, pray together and build friendships.
I thought you would like to see this candid photo of some of our Father’s Place volunteers last Wednesday night. In addition to a small gift to honor each of the dads who attended that night, we also gave each attendee a devotional book. The men who volunteer to lead and facilitate Father’s Place decided to personalize each of the devotionals with a Bible verse written inside the cover.
Speaking of that class, I’m sure you’d be blessed to hear a bit of Amber's* story. She and her husband came to QC PRC two weeks ago considering abortion because they recently immigrated from the Middle East and are concerned about finances. We provided Amber and her husband with an ultrasound and Godly counsel. They returned for a second ultrasound last Wednesday. After the ultrasound, this couple chose life for their baby and they BOTH came BACK that night for HOPE class and Father’s Place!
Changed minds and hearts are things to be celebrated every day. Here are a few other snippets of conversations from the past month.
"I'm excited now that I have heard the heartbeat."
"I was planning on not keeping it. Since I saw baby and heard the heartbeat, I am going to keep the baby."
"I really do appreciate you all and what you do for women like me in hard times. I'm very grateful."
"Once I tell the father of the baby about the pregnancy it will help me process a lot more to know where he is."
"After a long and challenging labor I've finally welcomed my baby boy last week. I just wanted to share and thank you all so much for the support during one of the scariest and most difficult times of my life."
You partner with this ministry, because you know that we care deeply about rescuing children from abortion and leading their parents deeper into a relationship with Jesus and His church. So, as I close I want to thank you for your prayers and gifts, and if you are not giving yet, provide an opportunity for you to become a part of this life giving, life changing work: https://www.friendsofqcprc.org/give
We are grateful to have the opportunity to do this good work that God created for us before the beginning of time.
Praying with you for changed hearts,
Mary
Malachi 4:6 -- He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers.
