“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30
Good afternoon!
Every month I look forward to sharing with you the work that God is doing through your gifts to Queen City Pregnancy Resource Center. I’m a little late this month, in part because I was on vacation last week. I did something I’ve never (knowingly) done before—I took a two-mile hike. Now, I know for many of you that barely qualifies as a walk. And to be completely honest, I got a bit lost, or I may not have even persevered to the two-mile mark.
I saw some absolutely stunning Florida nature. But besides the river, palm trees, and air plants, what really stood out to me were the benches sporadically placed for those who wanted to take a rest or soak in a particularly beautiful scene. I realized that last week was a bench for me, a time to rest. I was also reminded that QC PRC did just fine without me, no one missed a beat—the staff and volunteers kept right on serving, saving, and sharing!
Here are some stories of what that’s looked like recently:
Serve – our posture is always one of service. One way we do that is through welcoming walk-ins. When a woman comes to QC PRC without an appointment, that indicates to us that she’s been referred and not directed to us through our Google ads. So, this past Monday, when we had two abortion-minded walk-ins (we’ve had 16 over the last 6 weeks) we rejoiced that QC PRC is becoming the trusted resource in Charlotte for any woman experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. Our staff is service-minded and immediately shifts their day to serve these women who walk through our doors unannounced.
Would you prayerfully consider serving as a volunteer at QC PRC? Every extra set of hands helps us meet women right where they are—with compassion and hope.
Save – our next priority is to save this child from abortion. Last week our friends at Love Life Charlotte sent to us a couple they’d intercepted outside the abortion clinic. What was unusual about this situation was the couple had driven ten hours to get an abortion. But both the mother and father of the baby started to have second thoughts as they did their own research during their drive to Charlotte. When they arrived at the abortion clinic the father of the baby had a physical reaction to being there, and once inside, the mother herself began to have misgivings. They came to QC PRC and we were able to show them their 11-week-old baby on ultrasound and counsel with both parents. Because of your generosity, we helped them with their expenses to get back home and connected them with a PRC there for continued care and support.
Will you pray specifically for this family—that God would continue to strengthen their decision for life, and that they would find lasting support and hope through their local pregnancy center and church?
Share – we know that the families who come to QC PRC need a relationship with Jesus more than anything. Those we serve are often in crisis; so many times, our words are lost in the whirlwind of their circumstances. That’s why ultrasounds and practical help speak volumes in rescuing children. The same is true of our sharing the Gospel; we must walk it out, building long term relationships that lead back to the church is key.
A few weeks ago, we had our first ever Wheels of Hope, an event designed to support our clients with practical needs like diapers, while inviting them to become a part of a local church. We know there were several of those connections made that day. And because one of those connections was with one of our staff members, we know that a family we served two years ago in a crisis pregnancy is now connecting with a partnering church. Our prayer is that there are many more such connections made at upcoming Wheels of Hope events and through our other ministry efforts.
Would your church be interested in hosting a Wheels of Hope event? It’s a powerful way to love families in crisis and build Gospel-centered relationships. Let’s partner together! All the above are examples of the beauty we get to see on our journey of ministering to women facing an unplanned pregnancy. And it’s good to stop and rest on a bench occasionally to think about the beauty God is laying out before us. So, my prayer for you is that you keep your eyes open not only to all the beauty around you, but to the benches God provides for you to rest, refresh and get back at it! Right now, your support is more crucial than ever. Would you make a gift today to help us keep serving, saving, and sharing hope with families who need it most? Your generosity is changing lives—one mother, one baby, one family at a time. Warmly, Mary |
